The Bard’s Puzzle from the supplement Annihilation of Avalon
The Heroes will come into a little room resembling a small theater with a little stage. There is no exit, but there is a gigantic golden harp on the stage with a note attached. A few red herring bits and bobs litter a messy table, all to distract form the note. The note reads, “A Bee will Be in the key to See A Minor mode of escaping!” If the Heroes play the chords on the harp, A, B, B, C, A minor, as told in the poem, a trapdoor in the stage will open! The Heroes may need a hint [Campaign designed for ages as young as seven] which could be “Some words are just letters in disguise, some letters mean different things to a bard or musician.”
Cu Chullainn’s Retirement from the supplement The Fall of Vulcan’s Wall
At long last, the Heroes come upon a tree house made in the center of the cave and atop a strange fairy tree. In its branches, the treasure hoard of Cu Chullainn can be found. Here sits his favorite gear (long dusted over) and a scroll or two of congratulations for heroic deeds. Climbing down from the branches is Cu Chullainn himself, a warrior with ruby red hair and a shimmering spear. He explains that the queen exiled himself and his warriors after he beat Oberon, King of the Fae, in an arm wrestling match. On pain of death, he was forced into the Cave of Exile lest he destroy his honor forever. The Heroes will have to convince Cu Chullainn to bring himself and his warriors back into the service of the queen however they can, though it won’t be easy to prove that their cause is legitimate. For all Cu knows, they could easily be imposters. Perhaps this is even a trick of the queen to finally take his head! The debate may even end in a duel, which would surely claim the life of one or more Heroes. Peace is strongly recommended.
